Galvanized water storage tanks for San Diego and the Imperial Valley

A-1 Tank, LLC custom-manufactures galvanized water storage tanks for the Imperial Valley, and nearby San Diego, helping ease water shortages through effective storage.

The Imperial Valley and nearby San Diego rely on water from the Colorado River to support the area’s half million acres of cultivated land. Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming also rely on the Colorado River. In 2023, faced with long-term drought, California agreed with Arizona and Nevada to jointly conserve 3 million acre-feet of the river’s water. This agreement, while important for conserving water, is seen by some as further threatening the area’s agriculture and water supply.

San Diego also relies on water from the Northern California Bay Delta. The water from the Colorado River and bay delta system supplies around 80% of the San Diego area water. The remaining 20% comes from local sources, including saltwater desalination.

The capability to safely and effectively store water for San Diego and Southern California is critical for providing:

  • Drinking water for homes, businesses, and southern California’s public recreation areas.
  • Water for crops and livestock.
  • Rainwater and graywater collection.
  • Galvanized water storage tanks for fire suppression.

FAQ's

  • Galvanized water storage tanks have a lifespan of 50 or more years, at least 30 years longer than the 10 to 20-year lifespan of plastic tanks.
  • Galvanized water storage tanks are durable, and built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including rust and high temperatures.
  • Water storage tanks from A-1 Tank are stronger than plastic tanks and as a result, can be manufactured for larger capacities than the weaker plastic tanks.
  • Galvanized tanks are versatile and effective for many uses, including water conservation, drinking water, irrigation, and firefighting.
  • Because of their versatility, durability, and longer lifespan, galvanized water storage tanks deliver a much higher return on investment (ROI) than other types of tanks.

Additionally, we custom-manufacture each tank to meet your unique needs, helping you maintain profitable levels of productivity.

A-1 Tanks come in capacities from 1000 to 20,000 gallons. We can:

  • All of our tanks include 4-inch NFT fittings, and we can accommodate larger sizes and quote prices at the time of ordering.
  • We also provide an optional, ANSI/NSF-compliant epoxy lining for galvanized tanks storing drinking water.

Our tanks, in any size, are suitable for private and public use, including residential, business, and agricultural uses. We deliver anywhere in California, including to California’s roughest backcountry.

California law requires that properties have access to a water system that is sufficient for fire suppression. When a public fire hydrant system isn’t available, galvanized water storage tanks are the best solution. Each city and county has regulations for water storage tanks for fire suppression.

  • Check with your local fire agency.
  • Those who have access to public fire hydrant systems might not need a supplemental water storage tank. If you do, most agencies require that the tank be able to deliver water at a minimum psi (pressure per square inch), and that the tank be easily accessed by firefighters.

A-1 Tank can supply the tank that meets your local requirements.
