Northern California Water Storage Tanks

A-1 Tank LLC custom-manufactures and delivers Northern California water storage tanks and the communities of San Francisco, Napa, Santa Rosa, Redding, and anywhere in California. Our tanks provide water storage solutions for:

  • Drinking water for homes, businesses, and recreation.
  • Water storage for fire suppression.
  • Water for crops, livestock, rainwater, and graywater collection.

Northern California benefits from easy access to Highway 101 and Highway 5 connecting it to the San Francisco Bay areas, Silicon Valley to the south, scenic shorelines, redwood forests, quaint towns, and agricultural regions north to the Oregon border. The metropolitan areas surrounding Santa Rosa, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley rely on extensive municipal water systems. As the region stretches north into agricultural operations and California’s famous forests the water supply becomes more reliant on sufficient rainfall, wells, reservoirs, lakes, and water storage.

Galvanized water storage tanks are far superior to other tanks for fire control. A-1 Tanks are manufactured to withstand a variety of environmental pressures, including fire. Galvanized steel does not melt or burn as plastic does, or break down under the high temperatures as concrete does.

Galvanized water storage tanks from A-1 Tank LLC meet all of the water storage requirements:

  • California law requires buildings to have a water supply with sufficient pressure for fire suppression with easily accessed by firefighters. Check local fire regulations for the details for your area.
  • Buildings connected to fire hydrant systems may not be required to install a water storage tank, although there are many reasons for having an extra water supply.
  • The number of buildings and the distance between them influence the size and number of galvanized water storage tanks you need. A large agricultural operation, for example, with barns and buildings distributed over the acreage needs more water storage capacity than one with a few, clustered buildings.
  • In addition to fire control, galvanized water storage tanks can be used to water livestock, crops, and a variety of other agricultural uses. Choosing tanks that serve multiple uses is a cost-effective decision.

During the 2024 wildfire season, over 80 wildfires burned through forests, wildlands, farms, ranches, rural communities, and towns. The largest California fire in 2024, the Park Fire burned over 429,000 acres, including 95,000 acres in Lassen National Forest. The Park Fire, determined to be started by arson, was finally contained after 64 days of firefighting in steep, rugged terrain, and cost over $351 million in firefighting costs and property loss.

Strategically located galvanized water storage tanks can provide critical water sources for fire suppression and allow time for residents to evacuate to safety. Remember to always follow the advice of the authorities. Get ready and start preparing to evacuate as soon as possible. Evacuate immediately upon being instructed to do so.

A-1 Tank manufactures durable, versatile galvanized water storage tanks with capacities from 1000 to 20,000 gallons. Fittings up to 4 inches NPT are included and larger fittings are quoted at the time of ordering. We have custom custom-manufactured galvanized water storage tanks for every use, including fire control. Our tanks come in vertical, flat-bottom, and open-top styles, suitable for accessing water for fighting fires from the air.

Yes. Most cities and towns allow residents to install a galvanized water storage tank, although regulations might specify the sizes and placement. People who have access to public water systems install galvanized water storage tanks for several reasons:

  • Collecting rainwater to use for vegetable gardens and other watering needs can reduce the water bill.
  • Provide a backup drinking water supply in the event the public systems fail. Check with local health regulations to make sure to collect the rainwater in a manner that ensures the water is potable. Adding our ANSI/NSF-compliant epoxy lining also helps make sure the collected water is drinkable.
  • Collecting graywater is another use. Stored water from showers, laundry, and washing dishes in a galvanized water storage tank can be used for landscape watering and other uses that don’t require potable water. The Energy and Environment Building Alliance reports that an average household of three can conserve over 18,700 gallons of water by recycling graywater.
  • Galvanized water storage tanks are rust-resistant and last 50 years or more.

A-1 Tank manufactures and delivers galvanized water storage tanks that hold from 1000 to 20,000 gallons. We provide exterior UV-resistant coating and an interior ANSI/NSF-compliant interior epoxy coating that extends the lifespan of our tanks.
