Central Valley Water storage tanks

A-1 Tank LLC plays an important role in storing and conserving water for California’s Central Valley. We manufacture and deliver galvanized water storage tanks to the Central Valley communities, including Bakersfield, Modesto, Fresno, Merced, Sacramento, Chico, Redding, and as far north as the Oregon border. We provide water storage solutions for all of California.

California’s Central Valley, consisting of the Sacramento Valley north of Sacramento and the San Joaquin Valley to the south, is California’s highest-producing agricultural region. The Central Valley grows over 300 different crops that produce 25% of the crops grown in the US.

Conserving water is necessary for:

  • Drinking water.
  • Livestock and crops.
  • Rainwater and graywater collection and recycling
  • Water storage tanks for fire suppression.

The region’s water comes from different sources including reservoirs, rivers, groundwater, the California Aqueduct, and the Central Valley Project. Despite the extensive efforts to keep the water flowing, farmers and ranchers have been struggling with groundwater depletion for many years. A recent 2024 study released by Stanford University reports that groundwater use “has caused parts of the San Joaquin Valley to sink by over one foot per year” since 2006.

  • Water is necessary for successful farming, the health and welfare of local families, and the economy.
  • Galvanized water storage tanks for the Central Valley are critical in regions with high water demands.

We deliver most orders within a week to 10 days from the time of the order.

We manufacture all our tanks using an efficient advanced automatic wire feed welding process that delivers superior galvanized water storage tanks at a very competitive price.

Homeowners, agricultural operations, public agencies, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), the US Forest Service, wilderness recreation, nature preserves, and land conservancies have been benefiting from our tanks since 1984.

Water shortages due to the shrinking access to groundwater in the lower Central Valley, the arid environments of the nearby Inland Empire, and growing populations have made the need for water conservation and storage highly important.

FAQ's

One tank with the right capacity serves many purposes. Whether you need additional tanks depends on the application. The staff at A-1 Tank can help you determine how many tanks you need, the capacity or mix of capacities you need, and even make recommendations for the best configuration of multiple tanks.

We can help you answer questions such as:

  • How close to the water pump should the tank be?
  • Do I need separate tanks for drinking water and rainwater?
  • What kind of fittings do I need?
  • Can I store water from a reservoir in a galvanized water storage tank?
  • What is the easiest way to get drinking water from an auxiliary water storage tank to the house?

We can answer your questions and help make sure you have the right size of water storage tanks, for your needs, installed in the best locations.

Galvanized water storage tanks have many benefits that make them the better choice, including durability, longevity, and capacity:

  • Polymer plastic water tanks last from 10 to 20 years, compared to 50 or more years lifespan for galvanized water tanks.
  • Galvanized steel tanks can withstand harsh and fluctuating environmental and weather conditions that damage plastic tanks. And, A-1 Tanks are rust-resistant and manufactured with rust-resistant components.
  • Because steel is stronger than plastic, galvanized water storage tanks from A-1 Tank can be manufactured for larger capacities than structurally weaker plastic tanks.
  • Galvanized tanks are versatile and suitable for a variety of uses, including firefighting water conservation, and irrigation.
  • There is a much higher return on investment (ROI) from galvanized water storage tanks.

We Serve all of the Central Valley

We custom-manufacture our galvanized water storage tanks to meet your unique needs, minimizing your need to adjust your operations to accommodate the tanks.

Is there a difference between a galvanized water storage tank for drinking water and one for livestock water?

There is no difference except that some choose to add the ANSI/NSF-certified epoxy lining to the galvanized water storage tank to use for human drinking water.

The epoxy lining is safe for livestock, too. However, some choose to not have the epoxy applied for livestock watering, especially if livestock is grazed in various locations on the ranch. In those cases, groundwater is often pumped into our galvanized water storage tanks and fills water troughs distributed strategically around the acreage.

We also custom-manufacture water troughs for your livestock.
