FAQ's

Peak fire season in Southern California begins in April or May and is getting longer every year. According to the Cal Fire Incident website, California experienced over 8000 fires in 2024, burning nearly 1.5 million acres and destroying over 1000 structures.

The ability to store extra water for firefighting is a critical tool for assisting firefighters in getting fires under control and the extra time needed for families and neighbors to get to safety.

Stragegically placed water storage tanks are effective for supplying water for fighting fires in residential and urban areas.

  • California law requires that residences have access to a water supply that can be used in the event of  fires. Water storage tanks can be a backup when access to hydrants is in high demand.
  • For rural operations and residences that depend on well water, water storage tanks are necessary for firefighting.
  • Water storage tanks provide water for residential and agricultural needs as well as fire suppression.
  • Water storage tanks installed in Los Angeles County can be accessed by the US Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) to help fight wildfires throughout Los Angeles County, nearby communities, open land, and forests.
  • Water storage tanks are effective for providing a reliable gravity-fed supply of water when the power is out.
  • Unlike water storage tanks made of plastics, A-1 Tank’s galvanized tanks are manufactured to withstand intense heat.

A-1 Tank’s galvanized water storage tanks meet all the requirements for fire suppression anywhere. With our custom-designed 4×4 trucks, we can deliver and install our water storage tanks in rough, backcountry terrain. Our open-top tanks are highly effective for fire suppression by air.

The Los Angeles area and Southern California have experienced millions of dollars in fire losses. In the 2024 fire season, Malibu’s Franklin Fire burned over 4000 acres, causing thousands to evacuate to safety and qualified as a federal emergency. Regionally the Lake Fire in Santa Barbara County burned 38,664 acres; the Bridge Fire in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties burned over 56,000 acres. The San Bernardino County Line Fire burned close to 39,000 acres.

Galvanized water storage tanks are safe for drinking water, especially when the interiors are coated with a special epoxy coating that is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation.

  • The epoxy coating used by A-1 Tank is certified in accordance with the ANSI/NSF Standard for potable water.
  • Galvanized water storage tanks are useful in rural settings that rely on wells. Groundwater is pumped into water storage tanks where it is available for household and other uses.
  • Privately operated wilderness experiences often use galvanized water storage tanks to provide water for drinking, cooking, and showers for their guests.

A-1 Tank supplies water storage tanks for household use, rural and agricultural uses, and for private and public wilderness adventures. Do you need a tank in a hard-to-reach spot? Don’t worry, we can deliver it.

Galvanized water storage tanks can also be used for collecting rainwater and graywater.

  • Collecting and storing rainwater is a cost-effective way to store water, especially in arid regions where it can be used to supplement well water.
  • Collecting graywater, the water from doing laundry, dishes, and taking showers and bathing can be stored in galvanized water storage tanks and reused for landscape watering, some ornamental crops, and chores that don’t require potable water.

We deliver galvanized water storage tanks to Los Angeles County, nearby communities, national and state forests and parks, and anywhere in California. Our custom-designed 4×4 delivery trucks get us into California’s rugged backcountry where we can seat tanks precisely on their pads. We deliver most orders within a week to 10 days from the time of the order.
